WHS Open House tonight 5:30-7:30 in the Event Center

 

Attention Key Club and any other students interested.  On Tuesday, March 28 we will have 3 guest presenters who will be talking about their college experience as current college freshman.  We will have Jessica Reynoso who is attending Stanford University, Andy Garcia who is attending UC Santa Barbara, and Erica Diaz who is attending San Jose State University.  We will be meeting in Room 5 (Mr. Campe’s room).  Anyone who is interested in getting tips on what to expect and how to prepare for college should attend this meeting.  The meeting will start at 12:45 so grab you lunch and come join us in Room 5!

 

Attention Seniors! Ladies & Gentlemen: The 2017 Cinco de Mayo King & Queen application is now available, so apply if you want! Check your student email for this application or pick one up in the Counseling office.  The deadline to turn in completed applications is Friday, April 7th, to Ms. Lira at City Hall or to the Counseling staff; Ms. Ledesma, Ms. Moya or Aurora.  Crowning will be Friday, May 5th, at Miller Park during the Annual Step Up Event. You must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and are between the ages of 16 to 18.  The Woodlake Lions Club is sponsoring this event and they hope that it will be both educational and a meaningful experience for the candidates.

 

Attention all Juniors:  If you are interested in pursuing a career in the Agriculture Industry there will be an Ag Career Expo on April 19, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the International Agri-Center Building.  If interested you must be an 11th grader and meet eligibility requirements.  Sign up with Mrs. Peña!

 

The Pursuing Victory With Honor Scholarship application deadline is MARCH 30, 2017 due date is quickly approaching!

 

Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:

2017 Graduate of any Tulare County High School

Possess 3.0 cumulative High School GPA

Exhibit exceptional sportsmanship, school and community service,

and leadership

Plan to attend an accredited college/university as a full-time student

(12 units or more) during the 2017-18 academic year

Seniors apply now for the Student Advocates for Higher Education Scholarship or (SAHE), if you will be attending a community college, or a four year college or university in the Bay Area, including Santa Cruz County, a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.  Scholarship amounts vary from $500-$1,000. The deadline to apply is April 22, 2017; this is a Saturday, so apply before the April 22nd deadline!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Tulare County Farm Bureau is seeking applicants for its 33rd Youth Leadership class. If you will be entering high school as a junior in the 2017-2018 academic school year then you can apply for this all-expense paid eight month program designed to open doors to new experiences for while providing personal, educational and leadership opportunities. Trips include overnight trips to Cal Poly SLO, tours of the State Capitol, UC Davis College of Ag and Natural Resources, California Farm Bureau and more! See counseling for an application or apply online at www.tulcofb.org.  You do not have to have any connection with Ag, but students with potential leadership qualities are encouraged to take full advantage of this program.  TCFB hopes to have two (2) students from each Tulare County high school participate in the Youth Leadership Class.  Deadline May 1, 2017.

 Or apply to the San Joaquin Valley Institute on: June 23-25, 2017

 

You may not apply for the Bay Area Institute or the Los Angeles Institute; this is only for those students that live in that area.

You are being encouraged to apply and attend both programs if possible.  Sample applications were sent to current sophomore and juniors’ student emails.

 

Community Service: 3 Rivers Roping on April 27th-30th if interested sign up in counseling.

 

Prom 2017 is coming- Can’t afford a dress? If the cost of a dress causes a hardship, please sign up in the office with Christy, Enchanted Evening is here to help Juniors & Seniors attend their prom. Date of the event is April 1st, at the Wyndham Hotel; you must be sign up to attend this event.

 

Community Service Opportunity:

The City of Woodlake will be conducting a community clean-up day on April 22nd from 8 am to noon.  Students who are interested in earning community service hours by volunteering at this event may sign up in the front office. 

 

Underclassman if you are interested in ordering a class ring, we have Brochure’s in the office.

 

Students are not to come to the counseling office during class time to pick up forms (scholarship, or other misc forms), that can be done before school, after school, brunch and lunch. Counseling will gladly help you at that time.

Seniors

 

 

The William M. Maguy Scholarship application and requirements for 2017–2018 is now available in memory of Proteus’s long serving CEO, this $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a community-minded individual seeking a career in the Social Service field. Minimum GPA 3.0, and Social Service fields include but are not limited to: Political science, Religious Studies, Liberal Arts,  Communications, Urban studies, Sociology and Public Administration. Please complete the online fillable application that was emailed to seniors and apply before the deadline.  Deadline April 28, 2017.

 

 

The Sun Pacific Scholarship is now available to the children of employees of Sun Pacific. There will be five $20,000 scholarships awarded this year for those attending a four-year college and interested in earning a bachelor’s degree.  There will also be two (2) $3,000 scholarships awarded to a student who will attend a community college or an accredited trade school.  Recipients will be selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, community activities, leadership, and the ability to succeed. Pick up a scholarship application in the counseling office or check your student email for attachment.  Deadline April 7, 2017.

 

The Tulare County League of Mexican-American Women Scholarship application is now available to seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, please ensure that you list a college major and answer all questions as best as possible. Pick up a paper application in the counseling office or print out the attached. This competitive scholarship application is open to both female & males. The Letters of Recommendation can be completed with the (2) forms attached; however, the person doing your letter must return it back to you in a sealed envelope to mail as part of your application packet.  Deadline April 7, 2017.

The Anita de la Vega Scholarship Fund will award a $600 scholarship to two (2) deserving seniors (preferably females), who will be pursuing a degree in Health or Community Health. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must be from a migrant or seasonal farm working background or family.  Pick up an application in the counseling office or you may download an application at www.fhcn.orgDeadline March 31, 2017.

 

The Tulare/Kings County Chapter of CWA (California Women for Agriculture) will be awarding up to $5,000 this year in scholarships. Three different types of scholarships will be offered: Four-year University, junior college and four-year university continuing education. Applicants must have a minimum 3.4 GPA in high school or junior college, and plan to major in an agricultural based major with clear aspirations in having a career in the agriculture industry. Pick up an application in counseling. Deadline April 15, 2017.

 

 

The InFaith Community Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of the Undergraduate and Graduate scholarships through the Tulare County Lutheran Scholarship Program.  This scholarship opportunity is for seniors who are members of a Lutheran congregation, a resident of Tulare County and who will be attending a Lutheran college or university. Application Information can be found on the InFaith Community Foundation website at: infaithfound.org/scholarships.  Deadline April 30, 2017.

Friday Leadership will be at school early to collect donations in the front of the school in an event called Clean out Your Console.  Encourage your parents to drop you off at school on Friday.

Tulare County Office of Education PVWH Senior Scholarship Committee is proud to offer a $500.00 scholarship. QUALIFIED Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to attend an accredited college/university as a full time student (12 units or more) during the 2017-18 academic year.

Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) is proud to announce the availability of the competitive academic scholarship from the Doris “Do” Dooley Scholarship Fund.  Applications are now available to seniors from families that have participated in SHE programs. SHE includes Multifamily Housing, New Homes, Housing Rehabilitation, Community Development and others. The student’s family must have participated in one of Self-Help Enterprises’ programs. Pick up an application in the counseling office or download one at www.selfhelpenterprises.org  under the “Get involved” tab. Deadline March 31, 2017.

 

 

    Seniors the Proteus’ Standard Scholarship for 2017–2018 is now available to low income applicants, whose family has been serviced by the Proteus Inc. program in the last 2 years (that would include parents or an 18 year old.) Check your email for this fillable scholarship application. Deadline April 1, 2017.

 

Seniors: The Tulare County Cattlemen’s 2017 Scholarship is now available to seniors and college students. These scholarships are based on academic achievementagricultural involvement and leadership skills. Last year many qualified applicants were awarded 10 scholarships totaling $9,500. If you meet this criteria, check your email for the application and be sure to use the current 2017 form.

 

 1 "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college.  Interested students can visit this link www.fashion-schools.org and find the scholarship located at the bottom of the page and click on it.

2. “Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship Program.  This scholarship is available at AnimationCareerReview.com. Seniors have the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship.  This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. If you are interested this field apply at: http://www.animationcareerreview.com/ to find eligibility information along with the online application. The scholarship will be on the right side of the page and click on it.

 

3. "Aspiring Business Professional" Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a business degree at any accredited post-secondary school or college.  Interested students can visit this link http://www.onlinembareport.com/ and find the scholarship located at the right side of the page and click on it.

The deadline for these scholarships is June 1, 2017.
